I am writing to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for the fantastic treatment that I have been receiving on my knee over the past weeks. When I fell during a run and landed on my knee, I have never experienced swelling and pain like that. After two weeks of not being able to fully bend my leg, or walk properly, I was truly concerned that I would never regain the same function and return to running – an activity that I love. Of course, this was even more troubling as the summers is coming and I have a bridesmaid dress to fit into for June!

I was advised to consider acupuncture so naturally David referred me to your clinic. I must admit that the thought of needles in my legs was terrifying and I didn’t think I would be able to relax enough to let the treatments work. I could never have been so wrong. From the moment I first entered your clinic, I was immediately put at ease. Not only was the treatment virtually painless, it was one of the most relaxing hours I can remember. After not only one treatment, the swelling had almost completely disappeared and I could actually walk without pain. Since continuing to see you, my knee is almost fully recovered and I look forward to getting back on the road in the very near future.

Going to acupuncture has been the best decision I could have made for this injury and it is hard to believe how quickly my knee has recovered. I would not hesitate in recommending any of my family and friends to see you for an injury or overall well-being, as I know it is the reason I am feeling as good as I do today.

I first went to see Shannon Larson for a sore shoulder. On my first visit she asked me a bunch of questions about everything from my dreams to my eating habits; she inspected under my tongue and checked my pulse. I was instantly impressed by her knowledge and how thorough she was. She then proceeded to “poke” around to find out exactly where I was sore. Then she asked me if she could bleed a point. I gave her the go ahead and she pricked my pinky finger and bled out 10 drops of blood and told me to move my shoulder around. It was fixed! I as amazed! I wouldn’t have believed it if it wasn’t my shoulder.
I would recommend Shannon’s services to anyone and everyone. She is professional, knowledgeable and she makes you feel very comfortable when you are in her care.

Following a weekend camping trip early this summer, I came home with what was probably a pinched nerve somewhere in my left rotator cuff. I guess that in my eagerness to hike to the site and ensure our cooler bevies were ready for immediate consumption, I was careless in the way I carried a half-ton of gear. Sleeping on the forest floor and swimming in chilly river water all weekend probably didn’t help matters either. But hell, I had fun!

Come Monday morning however, I ached from shoulder to elbow and the lower part of my arm was numb and tingly down to the fingertips.

I made an appointment with Shannon, who stayed after-hours to treat me. This wasn’t the first time I’d seen her. And once again I was impressed with her comprehensive, unhurried approach. Shannon asked questions, carried out a thorough examination, and then proceeded to strategically place her magic needles, some of which ended up in my sunburned back. (Okay, yes I’d been really careless that weekend.) The fact that the needles didn’t hurt will never cease to amaze me.

By the end of our lengthy session, not only had my pain disappeared, but I felt so wonderfully relaxed, I didn’t so much walk as float home.

Which brings me to another reason Shannon is my go-to acupuncturist: she practices in Vancouver’s West End, where I live and work. But even if you have to drive to see her, don’t hesitate – Shannon’s outstanding skills and caring attitude are worth the effort to find a parking space!

I have very much appreciated Shannon’s willingness to share her knowledge of Chinese medicine with me. Unlike western doctors who seem to want to get a patient out of their office as soon as possible, Shannon spends quality time getting to know what is happening with the body. This way she treats not just the symptoms but the underlying toot of the problem. Even though she is sticking needles in you, she is very adept at relaxing the patient and explaining what the points do and what the sensations you feel are thereby making it an interesting pain-free experience.

I would have no problem recommending Shannon to anyone experiencing symptoms that aren’t being relieved by Western medicine’s topical approach to treatment.
